Company Description
The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), operated by Battelle for the U.S. Department of Energy, provides science and technology in health, environment, energy, and national security, including over 2,000 technical development projects for 1,800 governmental and commerce clients annually. In the areas of biotechnology and health sciences, focus areas include research in molecular and cell biology, basic and applied toxicology, environmental microbiology, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, structural biology, computational biology and technology development. These capabilities are applied in health effects studies, development of biomedical materials and targeted therapeutics, bioremediation, transgenic plants and animals, bioengineering processes, and drug registration/safety evaluation. Facilities available at PNNL for industrial, commercial, and academic users include the W. R. Wiley Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL; www.emsl.pnl.gov), a national scientific user facility that features state-of-the-art capabilities for experimental, molecular, and computational research. EMSL is an open facility and welcomes the submittal of proposals of research by outside users. The Applied Process Engineering Laboratory is a community-based, high-tech business startup facility with clean room and wet lab spaces.
