Senior/Principal Scientist, Bioinformatics/Computational Biology

Description

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology group at Seattle Genetics to contribute to the development of innovative antibody-based therapies for treating cancer.

Responsibilities:

This position will involve cross-functional teamwork to build and develop bioinformatics tools and provide analysis for ongoing clinical trials

  • Collaborate with biomarker scientists, medical directors, and research teams to analyze clinical and biomarker data to support clinical development decision making.
  • Effectively communicate analysis results to development teams.
  • Implement and evaluate new predictive algorithms.
  • Analyze internal and external NGS datasets to identify predictive response markers.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or other related disciplines, and 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Deep knowledge of mathematics and statistical methods and proficiency using statistical analysis software or libraries such as R or Matlab.
  • Experience with a general scripting language such as Python, Ruby, or Perl.
  • Experience working with Next Generation Sequencing data.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, R, Python).
  • Experience with an object-oriented language such as Java, C++ or C# and familiarity with standard software development best practices: source code control, unit testing, in-code documentation and automated build environments.
  • Background with molecular biology, genomics, next-generation sequencing or immunology a plus.
  • Excellent listening, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to illustrate problems and generate solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
