Senior Manager IT PMO

Summary:

The Senior Manager, IT Project Management Organization (PMO) is responsible for guiding a team of project managers, ensuring excellent project health and delivery through a combination of project management best practices, process improvement, and widespread optics into project health. Through natural leadership strengths, the Senior Manager, IT PMO will contribute purposefully to a high-achieving IT PMO team and department culture that goes above and beyond to deliver excellent results.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction to the IT Project Management Organization
  • In collaboration with the IT Business Management Organization, contribute to the development of a transformative roadmap to mature, expand, and scale the services offered
  • Drive continuous improvement in service quality for PMO service offerings
  • Recruit, hire, coach, and develop a high performing team of program and project managers
  • Create, maintain, and improve onboarding process and materials for the team
  • Build process and manage project management resource allocation to support business needs
  • Monitor and support day-to-day project team operations and team performance for all PMO-led projects
  • Support escalations of project risks and work to resolve issues
  • Ensure deployment, maintenance, execution, and continuous improvement of project performance monitoring and control capabilities via variance reporting, risk and issues management, and change control
  • Integrate the development of project standards, procedures and quality objectives across multiple project(s)/ program(s) and organizations. Ensure adherence to required key metrics, governance and process for all PM staff members on their projects
  • Develop a roadmap of project management capabilities to drive and accelerate the maturity of the project management processes and methodologies
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project management systems, ensuring staff receive proper training and ongoing support. Track staff usage and understand adoption

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management in an IT environment, with at least 3 years in a related technology leadership role
  • 5+ years experience building, leading, and motivating teams of project managers, including contract and vendor resources
  • Able to recognize, acknowledge, and build upon the abilities and contributions of team members and direct reports
  • 4 + years experience leading projects involving GxP validation/qualifications of systems or relevant experience working in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company
  • Proven ability to be a change agent in a complex, rapid growth environment
  • Deep understanding of Waterfall and Agile methodologies and the ability to efficiently apply the appropriate method as the situation demands
  • Budget and vendor management experience, including but not limited to, leading through RFP initiatives, negotiations, and professional service engagements
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of leadership throughout the organization
  • Strong written and oral presentation and communication skills
  • Exceptional planning, coordination, and analytical skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of various software programs to manage Project & Portfolio Management (PPM), including but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Project and SmartSheet
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or business-related discipline or equivalent job experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or MBA
  • Project Management Professional certifications
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Certified Scrum Master certification
