This position can be located in Bothell, WA or Remote U.S.

Summary

The Systems Librarian ensures that employees can successfully and seamlessly access information services and resources that support Seagen’s mission. This experienced information manager is responsible for selecting or designing and maintaining all Library Information Services [LIS] systems and solutions. They will acquire and configure all library systems technologies that connect company employees securely and seamlessly to information resources. This position reports to the Senior Manager Library Licensing & Access Service and works closely with vendors and Seagen IT and contributes to the activities and innovations of the LIS team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manages activation, linking, authentication, access, configuration, for all LIS information resources including journals, ebooks, databases, and other online content
  • Manages the maintenance of electronic information resources, including updates of holdings within the link resolver as well as linking technology platforms and software
  • Administer Library Licensing & Access team’s updates to holdings throughout the access scaffold
  • Provide internal website owners with new and updated resource URLs
  • Obtain updated publisher holdings files for journals packages
  • Configure link resolver in external online search databases
  • Construct URLs embedding authentication platform strings
  • Update journals and e-book holdings in link resolver
  • Upload link resolver file to access technology vendor
  • Upload journal holdings to document delivery vendor
  • Manage the development, configuration, and maintenance of ediscovery and other LIS search and alerting systems, platforms, and dashboards in collaboration with the LIS Team, IT, and vendors
  • Provides instruction and troubleshooting support to all users of the library's broad range of systems
  • Serves as the library's primary technology liaison with IT teams including identity & access, cyber security, to ensure changes in IT systems are implemented in LIS systems. Collaborate with IT web developers to create, configure, and maintain internal LIS websites
  • Works closely with IT to set up single sign-on, incorporate IT’s changes to identity & access protocols within library systems and sites, and migrate resources to new platforms
  • Assists Senior Manager Library Licensing and Access Service with library technology demos, testing, trials, and evaluations, ensuring participation by target users and obtaining feedback from participants. Contributes technical knowledge to Senior Managers’ contract discussions Captures systems logs and other data to troubleshoot and perform maintenance tasks on library systems
  • Uses knowledge of data structures to work with and transfer information and data across LIS systems and platforms
  • Creates and maintains systems documentation and SOPs for library systems configuration and maintenance
  • Trains library colleagues in basic backup procedures
  • Partners with vendor’s technical support teams to ensure the databases and systems are performing optimally

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in setting up, providing access to, and troubleshooting issues with electronic information resources
  • BS or BA degree in computer science or library science
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Experienced in configuring and maintaining a link resolver
  • Experience training and troubleshooting issues with library systems users
  • Experience cataloging for electronic systems including discovery platforms
  • Experience in administering an authentication vendor platform
  • Experience or knowledge of product literature database creation and maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience in API
  • Demonstrated commitment to work well with diverse colleagues
  • Strong service orientation and commitment to serving the company’s information needs
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in SFX, QUOSA and Open Athens and information discovery tools
  • Library systems administration in medical or pharmaceutical industry
  • Master’s degree in library science
