Summary
The Senior Accountant will work closely with TOPS Finance leadership as a steward of commercial and clinical inventory for the organization. This role will require a strong focus on inventory control procedures, internal and external batch manufacturing, and cost variance analysis. Additionally, this position will be a cross-functional business partner supporting the Technical Operations & Process Sciences (TOPS) organization.
Responsibilities:
- Support the accounting month-end close process:
- Review monthly transactions in the Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM) module, including batch manufacturing, scrap, count adjustments, and inventory transfers to/from Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMO’s), 3PL’s, and storage facilities.
- Monitor the batch costing process for internal and external manufacturing campaigns.
- Analyze clinical and commercial CMO production activities by program.
- Prepare month-end journal entries and reconciliations related to monthly clinical CMO accruals and commercial inventory (Raw Materials, in-transit, WIP, and Finished Goods).
- Review cost of goods sold to ensure proper cut-off and general ledger coding.
- Support the monthly CMO inventory reconciliation process.
- Collaborate in the development and maintenance of key financial controls (Sarbanes-Oxley) and other financial policies and procedures.
- Support the external audit function, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of quarterly/annual auditor requests.
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (production plant or global manufacturing operation).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in biotechnology
- Experience with ERP (Oracle or SAP) and support systems
- Experience with standard costing
- CPA or CMA is a plus
- MBA is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong business and financial acumen, including strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience in a collaborative role with the ability to build strong relationships and influence, preferably in a financial business partner role
- The desire to learn and grow with the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced growing environment
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with a proven track record of delivering results
- Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other computer applications
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance
