Summary:

Seagen is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate Sr. Research Associate to help meet the expanding needs of our drug development programs. Activities will include development and execution of assays to characterize the therapeutic potency and elucidate mechanisms of action (MOA) for our novel cancer therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a strong scientific background, thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment, have a proven track record of technical excellence, and successfully communicate to a wide variety of audiences.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct and interpret experiments, generating high quality data for program teams and regulatory filings
  • Execute molecular and cell-based methodologies such as multicolor flow cytometry, immunofluorescent and live cell microscopy, cytotoxicity assays, and biochemistry-based assays such as ELISA and western blotting
  • Manipulate primary cells and cancer cell lines, including standard cell culture, co-culture assays, viral transduction, CRISPR/Cas9 and transfection
  • Investigate MOAs of our therapeutics through development, optimization, and execution of complex assays
  • Tackle program-critical questions to facilitate the advancement of cancer therapeutics through regulatory filings
  • Provide experimental expertise and data to cross-functional teams
  • Maintain rigorous records of experimental design and data using electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Contribute to and help author technical reports for health regulatory agencies and manuscripts
  • Present experimental results and scientific rationale to colleagues within and outside of department

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree with 5+ years’ experience in lab; or equivalent, such as bachelor’s degree with 7+ years’ experience in lab; Degree in Cellular or Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Immunology, or related field
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques
  • Experience with a range of cellular and molecular techniques, such as flow cytometry, western blotting, microscopy, reporter assays, and/or Luminex/ELISA assays
  • Practical experience in developing and troubleshooting assays
  • Ability to design, perform and interpret complex experiments with minimal oversight
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills; can explain details of the work and how it fits into the bigger picture
  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with biologics a plus
  • Background in Cancer Biology or Cancer Immunology preferred
  • Experience with cell line engineering including lentiviral transduction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and analytical software programs (Prism, FlowJo, etc.)
  • Proficiency at balancing multiple projects and experiments to meet deadlines
  • Strong capacity to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to provide support and experimental expertise
  • Evidence of good technical writing skills

The hiring pay range for this position is $94,000 to $122,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
